Sight Word Slam
This handheld game for ages 5+ engages kids in dynamic gameplay while practicing early literacy and reading fluency skills. With 185 sight words and two game modes, kids listen to the word and then slam the missing letter or matching word.
I managed this product from initial concept to final release. I worked closely with internal teams, outside industrial designers, and our overseas factory to hit deadlines and meet line guidelines for this exciting new addition to the Slam games line.

I worked closely with members of different teams across the company to select age appropriate sight words and accurately break the words into elkonin boxes, matching school guidelines as part of the Science of Reading curriculum.

3D Model in Autodesk Fusion
Final Design
After finalizing gameplay and unit requirements, I managed an external industrial designer to ideate options while complimenting the Slam games line look. I worked closely with the industrial designer to finalize the design and then I made the 3D model in Autodesk Fusion.

I worked with the copywriter to write and finalize the script for the game. I found and managed the voice actor. I then used Audacity® to edit and collate the audio and worked with the factory to optimize it for the unit.
I developed the gameplay and built the programming wireframe to communicate requirements with the factory. I tested iterative prototypes, gained stakeholder approval, and managed it all the way through to production.

Sight Word Slam won a PAL Award in 2024.
